MUST LET GO -Poetry /

 MUST LET GO

I see the trees. I see the sky

I close my eyes, and I try to fly.

And then I see my chains in the world around me,

And my schedule binds me down.

Oh, life.

What is living?

Can I break through the restrictions I place on me?

Can I release the expectations and set myself free?

I remember the child when I knew how to live.

I close my eyes and try to forgive.

And then I see the simplicity I used to know.

And my chaotic life, I must let go.

Oh life,

What is living?

Can I break through the restrictions I place on me?

Can I release the expectations and set myself free?

In the Name of a Pandemic -Poetry :

They stole from us our freedom

-In the name of a pandemic

They lock us in our homes

-In the name of a pandemic

They limit the number of people in stores

-In the name of a pandemic

They obliterated millions of people's livelihoods

-In the name of a pandemic

Gyms closed

-In the name of a pandemic

Trails fenced

-In the name of a pandemic

Playgrounds barricaded

-In the name of a pandemic

Borders shut

-In the name of a pandemic

Unemployment increased

-In the name of a pandemic

Liberties altered, changed, robbed

-In the name of a pandemic

They ration what we can buy

-In the name of a pandemic

They restrain our medical options

-In the name of a pandemic

They cripple our economy

-In the name of a pandemic

Families burdened

-In the name of a pandemic

 Debt incurred

-In the name of a pandemic

They sealed schools

-In the name of a pandemic

They destroyed lives

-In the name of a pandemic

They shattered dreams

-In the name of a pandemic

Weddings called-off

-In the name of a pandemic

Funerals denied

-In the name of a pandemic

Churches shut down

-In the name of a pandemic

Missions aborted

-In the name of a pandemic

Graduation ceremonies halted

-In the name of a pandemic

Travel restricted

-In the name of a pandemic

Media frenzy

-In the name of a pandemic

False information

-In the name of a pandemic

Social norms dismantled

-In the name of a pandemic

Restrictive laws

-In the name of a pandemic

Relationships stalled

-In the name of a pandemic

Nations weakened

-In the name of a pandemic

Establishments barred

-In the name of a pandemic

Gatherings ended

-In the name of a pandemic

Progress deadlocked

-In the name of a pandemic

Sports canceled

-In the name of a pandemic

Teams dissolved

-In the name of a pandemic

Panic instilled

-In the name of a pandemic

Government control increased

-In the name of a pandemic

First Amendment rights suspended

-In the name of a pandemic

...and we let them

-In the name of a pandemic

TICK, TICK, TICK -Poetry :

 TICK, TICK, TICK

The biological clock goes tick, tick, tick.

Pulling, alluring, driving one mad.

Constantly calling, begging, promising.

If one does not answer, one becomes sick.

Mentally tormented from the biological click.

The woman begs, connives, and schemes.

Hoping and praying to raise a child.

Obsessing for the chance.

Her focus stuck on baby dreams.

Every minute evolved around it, or so it seems.

This is Mother Nature’s greatest trick.

Infecting and inflicting most women.

Deep down inside, they want a child to raise,

Though it throws life into constant conflict.

Mother Nature’s ploys are rather slick.

As the biological clock begins to brew,

Stealing and changing your sanity,

Taking away the serenity you have,

What will you do?

Will you let it take over you?

CAREST NOT THAT I SUFFER- Poetry /

 CAREST NOT THAT I SUFFER

He slings his sorrow at the feet of the Lord;

Depleted, shimmying under clouds of darkness.

He has given to all, sacrificed his needs.

And now there is nothing left.

“Give up; you are not enough.”

Demons crawl out of the shadows.

He’s kept them at bay for long enough.

Where is God?

“Carest not that I suffer?”

The wind, the storm, God traversed beside them,

And yet his apostles doubted his power.

And as he kneels at the altar of the Lord,

God lifts him, carries him, and atones for him.

For as he suffers, so does the Lord.

FOR THE YOUTH EVERYWHERE -Poetry :

 FOR THE YOUTH EVERYWHERE

For the youth everywhere who have lost their way

Continually: their shrines and their check-ins and their self-gratification, posting their image daily to an unknown audience, extinguishing their self to an ideal impossible to keep.

For the youth everywhere, struggling to love themselves.

Stolen years and numbed dreams, potential lost to the cyber world. Always striving to reach the unobtainable persona. Tweaking, tweeting, twerking, transcending, transforming, and transpiring, yet only tainting their soul.

For the youth everywhere who have lost the ability to socialize. Communicating by texts and posts, responding in memes and emojis. Gone is the socials, gone is the sphere to deal with conflict and joy. All interactions moving along the cyber world. They do not know how to maintain eye contact, or how to participate in meaningful conversation. Lost in their ability to connect.

For the youth everywhere, yours is a hard lot. Exposure to technology is what you know. Connecting to friends is a struggle outside of screens. Time spent together feels foreign. How do we include you in the village, how do we reclaim the soul? You are important. You have value. You have a place. How can we change this destructive black hole of youth?

To the youth everywhere, I am sorry we wronged you.

WHY IS IT HARD TO HOLD ONTO A FRIEND -Poetry /

WHY IS IT HARD TO HOLD ONTO A FRIEND

You made me laugh once.

You brought me flowers.

I still think about you, for hours and hours.

We were friends,

But now its suspended

Should we resume it, or has it ended?

There was good there,

And also pain.

If I contacted you, would it be in vain?

Life was good once,

For you and I,

But when I think of you, I only cry.

Why must friendship

Grow cold and end?

Why is it hard to hold onto a friend?

I'M TRYING TO BE STRONG -Ramblings :

 I'M TRYING TO BE STRONG

I am trying to be strong, to follow the plan

I can’t do this on my own.

I have to map out my day, my hour, my minute. I can’t do it alone.

If I trust myself, then I deviate.

I want to deviate, to abandon all.

I am tired of the struggle; I don’t want this anymore, these chains.

These weakness.

Why can’t I rise higher than them?

Why do I keep falling? I feel strong.

I feel on top of everything, and then I trust myself just for a moment, that sly lie that tells me only a little deviation won’t hurt me.

I can’t expect to live like this forever.

Just a small degression.

I can return. But I can’t!

It is all a damn lie! I never returned.

That is hell; I need to avoid it and run from it.

I have a plan. Every minute is accounted for; with that, I can be strong.

But I am not strong.
