LOST IN THE HEART OF THE CITY -Poetry

LOST IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

Amongst the crowd at the station

I wander unseen by others.

I smile at blank faces as they pass me,

Yet no one returns the gesture.

The wind from the tunnel blows my hair

And the smell of urine assaults my senses.

This is my journey as I move about the city.

-Invisible like a shadow.

Loneliness grips me in the sea of humanity.

Do others feel the same way?

I came here with the optimism of changing the world,

Yet I am the only one who has changed.
